2026 TCL Protocols

-
All matches begin on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. If a match is rained out, the default match time is the following day at 10 a.m. If not played on that day due to weather conditions or other complications, team captains shall arrange a mutually agreed upon match date, preferably within two weeks of the original date, but no later than end of regular season play.
-
Host courts shall be available for practice a minimum of 60 minutes before play.
-
The hosting club should provide water for guests at all events, with morning fare and beverages at their discretion.
-
2022 (6th Edition) USCA GC rules apply throughout.
-
The hosting team shall be responsible for timekeeping duties (announcing start and finish, including time extensions).
-
Doubles pairings will be selected by all clubs at their discretion. The Captains shall assign the match pairings in person at least 15 minutes prior to the start of Game 1.
-
All matches consist of eight timed (1-hour) 13-point games (first to 7) broken onto two rounds of 4 matches each. At called time, all balls shall have one additional shot. If still tied, sudden death applies (first to score the contested hoop). No ties shall be recorded.
-
All games start at corners 4 (yellow-solids) and 2 (red-second colors). Called time applies to all teams unless extraordinary conditions deem otherwise. If the host team prefers all games start from corner 4 (second colors start when solids clear hoop 2), separate time clocks must be kept. In order to eliminate the blue ball advantage, the visiting team shall play the blue ball in games 1 and 2 and the home team shall play the blue ball in games 3 and 4. In Round 2, the home team shall play the blue ball in games 5 and 6 and the visiting team shall play the blue ball in games 7 and 8.
-
Teams must have two players per team. There will be an automatic default (6-3 win for the opposing team) if a player or players is missing. If a player begins a match but falls ill and is unable to continue, his team captain may substitute any member of that club that is in attendance rather than incur a forfeiture.
-
In the case of a team having only one team player, a friendly game may be played with the solo player playing two balls, or the opponent club may offer to fill the vacancy with another player or pro, if available. However, the recorded score shall be 7-0 for the non-defaulting team.
-
If a certified referee is available, their decisions shall be final on any ruling. If a referee is not present and there is a dispute, the striker shall have the final say.
-
Every team should play with ‘reasonable dispatch’; the 1-minute maximum shot rule should be adhered to. Contradictions to this rule are addressed in the GC rules.
-
Any player who has a high probability of faulting on any shot should call a referee or knowledgeable non-biased player prior to play to watch the shot. If an opponent observes that a fault may be committed, he should likewise request assistance.
-
Double banking may require teams to be responsible for keeping time on court for their games. Time may be added to their clock (if requested by either team, due to the delay) for double banking interference during the game.
-
If another game is preventing the progress of a waiting team and there are no balls in critical positions, then the stalled team may ask to ‘play through’ once three full turns are taken by the slower team, and 5 minutes will be added to their clock. No time will be added if less than three full turns are taken. The hindering team shall mark any balls relevant to play and allow the other team to play through. If there are other similar delays, the same procedure is in effect.
-
Match winner scores shall be tallied first by the number of games won. If tied, the team having scored the greater number of hoops shall be the match winner. If the match is still tied, each club shall select two players each to replay hoop 1 in sudden death, starting at corner 4. Coin toss shall determine order of play.
-
Host and visiting team captains shall review, approve, and initial the scores after the last game is played. All scores shall be reported immediately to scores@verocroquet.org and copied to all other club representatives.

General Conditions

The TCCL contests are friendly in nature and all players should play and observe play with decorum. The 2022 Rules of GC have 13 etiquette behavior breaches; all players should have a copy of the rules available so as to have knowledge of what is and isn’t a fault, an etiquette breach, or any other aspect of play.
As some matches may have no official referee on site, if players agree, it is acceptable to ask another knowledgeable (and neutral) non-referee to watch a questionable shot, but doing so prevents the striker from making the final call (#15).

Each club must have one home and one away match. Each club shall designate a team captain or club representative to be responsible for his team's compliance with agreed schedules, protocols and communications. The decision to add additional teams to the Treasure Coast League or change the protocols shall only be made with a majority vote of Team Captains (currently requires 4 votes).
A record of all scores (wins, hoops and net hoops) should be kept by all team captains and the TCCL manager. Scores will be posted on VeroCroquet.org as soon as possible.
Weekly team standings are based on cumulative matches won, games won, net hoops scored.
The SEASON WINNER will be the team with the most match wins.
If tied, the greater number of games won shall prevail.
If still tied, the greater number of net hoops scored,
If still tied, the greater number of games won between the tied teams,
If still tied, the greater number of net hoops scored between the tied teams.
