Protocols - Mix and Match
This year we are adding a new dynamic to the TCCL.

Our regular TCCL matches, which started out as a way for teams from area Clubs to come together for friendly competition, have become more seriously competitive. This is a healthy development, but some clubs have more members wishing to participate than available slots on the Friday events.

For those who would enjoy traveling to area clubs to play, we are forming the
Interclub Mix and Match Practice Day.
This event will begin January 10 and continue until all Clubs have hosted all other participating Clubs, roughly through mid-March, or longer if desired.

Every Tuesday at 3 p.m. clubs will have 4 people invited to their home court, and subsequently be guests of those Clubs, throughout the season.

These events are designed for those who love croquet but haven’t reached the highly competitive Friday games level, or those who just like to play and learn while doing, and make new friends.

Participating Clubs must be able to host guests on their lawns at the given time.

These events are not intended for the regular Friday participants, but for those newer to the game. It is anticipated that visiting players will partner with players from the host team. This of course will be up to the hosting team to determine the team pairing format during the two-hour event.

Each Club is encouraged to have a designated coordinator who will manage scheduling, rules, communications, etc. with all other participants.

It will be up to the coordinators to expand the number of participants if desired. Most lawns can handle up to eight player per court, and if demand is there, clubs are encouraged to increase the number of players. More than 4 will require double banking, but that isn’t unusual.
The ‘regular ‘ players should mentor the newer players whenever possible.
CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION
All clubs must have sufficient facilities for hosting a minimum of 4 players, including all equipment, parking, restrooms, and drinking water.

These events are primarily designed for new and upcoming players. It is a great opportunity for ‘no-pressure’ learning and practice.

Clubs shall designate a coordinator who will maintain the schedule of the reciprocal events for the season. The coordinator shall share phone and email contacts with other Clubs and participants.
Each club shall have a copy of the latest edition of the GC rules.

Occasional schedule changes (day, time) may be mutually made with other club representatives as necessary. Any changes to the schedule should be noted with at least 24 hr. notice to the affected teams.
If a scheduled player cannot attend, effort must be made by the coordinator to fill the vacancy ASAP. If fewer than 4 players ultimately participate, a member from another club may fill the spot.
Clubs may provide refreshments at their discretion
.
Anyone not enjoying the opportunity, refusing to have fun, or carries a cell phone on court should not attend- Croquet is too great a sport not to enjoy
.
Club professionals (if available) should assist play, interpret rules and referee whenever possible.
